Before we begin!!!

The Smokin' Aces playlist is now available to follow and stream on Spotify, it'll be updated weekly with all the tunes featuring in these blog posts.

Week 16! I'm still playing catch up, I'm a blog post behind, even after this one! My bad! Either way, this track was played a lot last week when trying to re-focus on my tasks and step back and chill a little. I'm looking forward to the end of lock-down here in the UK. It's not a huge shock to the system for me, however, not being able to see friends and family is a bit of a drag. Boredom sets in, and variety is the spice of life as the saying goes... none of us are getting any variety whilst being stuck indoors. However, it's for the greater good and the safety of the nation, so I shouldn't complain too much. Hopefully, restrictions will be lifted as soon as it's deemed safe to do so and we can start to crawl back to some sort of normality and see our friends and family again! Anyway, enough of the negative stuff, let's get to the music!

I don't really have a great deal to say about this track. Just put it on and let the music engulf you. This track is stunning. The vocals are stunning. The instrumentation is stunning. The production is stunning. Stunning. It's such a good tune to throw on if you're in the mood for chilling out.

The track comes courtesy of the group/band called Submotion Orchestra. I discovered SO around 2014-15 after a fellow technician I was working at an event with suggested them to me. It's probably been the best musical recommendation I've ever had. SO's fusion of electronic music, soul and jazz-inspired vibes are a joy on the ears. Not to mention the lead singer, Ruby Wood, has a beautiful voice, both angelic and sultry, depending on the mood of the production.

Week 16's track 'Time Will Wait' is probably my favourite SO record. Downtempo vibes, growling basslines, a nice bit of brass thrown in, and silky smooth vocals. What's not to love?!

Check out the rest of Submotion Orchestra's music if you enjoy this tune-of-the-week!
